Frequently asked questions
The screen says "Camera access needed"
Percepta needs the front camera for expression reading. Open the iPhone Settings app → Percepta → enable Camera, or tap the "Open Settings" button on that screen.
It says "Turn toward the camera"
Readings pause when a face is turned more than about 30° away, because they would be unreliable. Face the camera directly and the live reading resumes.
It says "Camera isn't delivering video"
Another app may be holding the camera. Close other camera apps, return to Percepta, or relaunch the app.
How accurate is it?
Percepta reads facial movements and labels the expression they most resemble. It is approximate by nature: it works best with one well-lit face turned toward the camera. A facial expression is not always the same as what someone feels — treat readings as a guide, not a fact.
Where is my data?
On your phone. Camera frames are never stored or uploaded. Session history lives only on your device. The only thing stored in the cloud is your sign-in account (email). See the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account. If the app asks you to sign in again first, that is a security re-check — sign in, then delete.
Does it work offline?
Expression reading runs fully on-device and works without a connection. You need to be online only to sign in the first time.
VoiceOver support
Percepta is built for VoiceOver: live readings are announced as a single element ("Expression: Happy, 87 percent confidence"), every control is labeled, and decorative elements are skipped.
